Essential Packing List for your Galapagos Cruise
If you’re setting sail on a Galapagos cruise then one of the key things you need to think about is what essentials to pack. Any Galapagos adventure is going to be varied and exciting, and the contents of your suitcase need to match.
Here’s a quick guide to some of the essentials that you’ll need to bring.
One of the key thrills of any Galapagos Island cruise is the daily excursions and expeditions. So, you’ll need to be well prepared for activity. Take some sturdy clothes with pockets (these come in very handy for storage) that you don’t mind getting a bit rough and ready.
The islands are wild so it’s going to be a bit of an adventure when you go exploring – so dress the part.
Beach shoes and boots
Since sometimes excursions involve making a ‘wet landing’, which is climbing out of a boat into the water, you’ll need shoes that can get a little wet. However, since some of the terrains are hard going, a strong pair of shoes is needed for walking and hiking around. So it might be a good idea to take two pairs.
The highlight of any Galapagos Island cruise is the chance to take some truly stunning photos of the unique wildlife. That means you’ll need a safe way of transporting your camera around during some of the water taxi rides and wet landings. A waterproof camera case comes highly recommended. Although a waterproof backpack may be a more practical idea for carrying other items too.
While weather in Galapagos may not be quite as tropical as some can imagine, the sun does get deceptively hot. That’s why packing sun cream is absolutely essential. Some moisturizer to help your skin deal with the wind is also recommended.
Dressing for dinner
Depending on the nature of your cruise, you might want to be dressing up for dinner. If you’re on the Cormorant Cruise, for example, some smarter clothes always go down well at dinner and will match the first class surroundings. That being said, the aim of your trip is to be as relaxed as possible so wear what you’re comfortable wearing.
