Originally, the restaurant was known as the Chimborazo Hut, which served as the base camp and central activity hub. Guests used to stay in tents, while the hut provided a cozy place to gather around a fireplace. Over time, cabins and suites were upgraded to improve guest comfort and catering services are now also offered to daily visitors.
The restaurant seats 40 diners in a comfortable dining room, where well-prepared national and international dishes are served. Guests can enjoy stunning views of Chimborazo from a panoramic window. The restaurant’s name, “Estrella del Chimborazo,” is inspired by a local endemic hummingbird, symbolizing the unique location.
The hostel offers single, double and triple rooms, all equipped with heating and decorated with old mountaineering and climbing objects.
At Estrella del Chimborazo, the restaurant serves a range of national and international dishes. Breakfast and dinner are included for guests.
We arrange climbs to the summit of Chimborazo through the mountain guides, who bring over forty years of experience. All the necessary technical climbing equipment is provided to ensure safety and comfort.
Numerous hiking and excursion opportunities are available around Chimborazo Lodge, including the “Hieleros del Chimborazo” path, the Royal Road, parts of the Inca trail, and the vicuña area, as well as exploring the flora and fauna within the Reserve.
