Meet at 8:15 a.m. At the entrance of Puerto Ayora’s Church in front of the pier. Guests are asked to arrive 10 minutes before departure. Transportation will take participants to the Itabaca Channel, where the excursion begins. At South Plazas Island, east of Santa Cruz, the visit starts with a landing and an encounter with sea lions. The hike continues through an Opuntia cactus forest, which's home to the Galapagos’ smallest land iguanas. The trail leads to cliffs where frigatebirds red-billed tropicbirds swallow-tailed gulls and pelicans can be seen. Along the ridge is the bachelor colony," where aging male sea lions rest after losing their territories. Some of them carry scars from fights and shark bites. At Carrion Point guests go snorkeling to explore the Galapagos marine fauna. There is a chance to see white-tip sharks, kinds of fish, sea turtles and rays. The excursion returns to Puerto Ayora, around 4:00 p.m.
