The adventure begins with five days of jungle immersion on board the exclusive Zafiro cruise. Then, the tour ascends to the Andean heavens to beat the legendary Ausangate circuit. A challenging luxury camping trek that surrounds one of the most sacred mountains in the Andes and culminates at the iconic Rainbow Mountain. With a perfect guidance of our specialist naturalist guides in the Amazon and an elite mountain team in the Andes. 15 Day Peru Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive to Lima, the Gateway to the Great Experience

Your adventure begins in Peru's capital, Lima. Upon arrival, you will be met by our representative to provide private assistance and transfer to your selected hotel. This first day is designed for you to relax and recover.

Day 2: Flight to Iquitos and the Beginning of the Amazon Experience

After breakfast, our guide will take you to the airport for your flight to Iquitos. Upon arrival, a private vehicle will take you to the port of Nauta. There, your luxury riverboat, the Zafiro, will be waiting for you. Once on board, you will be introduced to the crew that will be caring for your needs and to your specialty naturalist guide who will be leading you through the jungle activities. In the evening, there will be a thrilling skiff trip for a night safari.

Day 3: Yanayacu de Pucate River Expedition and Shamanic Experience

The day offers a cultural immersion. You will visit an authentic riverbank community, where your guide will facilitate a genuine interaction. Later, you will witness the union of the Ucayali and Marañón rivers, the exact spot where the stunning Amazon River is born.

Day 4: Fishing Adventure and the Vastness of the Amazon River

The morning will be spent engaged in a classic Amazonian activity: piranha fishing with your expert guide, who will teach you local techniques. Later, the Zafiro will reach the point where the Ucayali and Marañón rivers converge, which is known as the birthplace of the Amazon, a powerful tee in geography that your guide will interpret for you.

Day 5: Canopy Walk and Wildlife Exploration

Today marks a perspective shift from your adventure. Your specialist guide will lead you over the famous canopy bridge system in the Amazon Natural Park. This experience offers you the chance to captivatingly witness the canopy ecosystem, a realm that your guide will help you interpret. After lunch, you will take one last boat ride to explore wildlife.

Day 6: Disembarkation and Flight to Lima

Enjoy one last breakfast aboard. Before heading to the Iquitos airport, your guide will take you to the Amazon Rescue Center (CREA). Upon arrival in Lima, you will be driven to your hotel for a good night's rest.

Day 7: Transfer to Huaraz, Gateway to the Cordillera Blanca

You will be taken from your hotel and transported to the airport for a short flight to Huaraz. Upon arrival, you will meet your certified mountain guide, who will be responsible for managing your entire expedition in the Andes. The remainder of the day will be for gentle acclimatization and to provide a full briefing for your trek.

Day 8: Acclimatization Hike to the Spectacular Laguna 69

Active acclimatization is very important. This morning, your mountaineering guide will take you on a spectacular day hike to Laguna 69. The day hike will not only allow you to acclimatize but will also offer an opportunity for your guide to assess your conditioning to determine if you are physically fit for your upcoming trek.

Day 9: Start of the Santa Cruz Trek- To Llamacorral Camp

The trekking expedition has begun! Your specialist mountain guide will lead you on the gradually uphill trail. Although you will have a light daypack, your support team will be in charge of all logistics. Your intended destination is the Llamacorral campsite (3,760 m / 12,335 ft).

Day 10: Trek to Taullipampa & First View of Alpamayo

Today, in your trek, we will continue with the trail deep into the valley. Your expert mountain guide will monitor the pace of the group while also mentioning landmarks along the way, including the first amazing views of the iconic Alpamayo peak. Tonight, we will be camping at Taullipampa (4,250 m / 13,943 ft).

Day 11: Punta Union Pass & Huaripampa valley descent

This day will be your most difficult, yet the most rewarding; from start to finish, the expedition will be 100% managed by your expert mountain guide. He will manage the steady ascent to the Punta Union pass (4,750 m / 15,583 ft), ensuring your safety and comfort. The experience of summiting Punta Union pass is a pledge of exhilarating relief. Once we summit, we will begin to descend to tonight's campsite.

Day 12: End of Trek And Return To Huaraz

Today's hike will be a pleasant descent in the Huaripampa valley. Your hike will end within the village of Vaqueria, where our private vehicle will be waiting. The return travel to Huaraz has extraordinary views; a final opportunity to really appreciate the wonders of the amazing mountains the expedition successfully conquered with your guide service.

Day 13: Rest and Recovery Day in Huaraz

This will be a recovery day. Your expedition guide will be available to offer suggestions and/or arrange for a visit to the nearby hot springs, an excellent way to ease tired muscles.

Day 14: Flight to Lima and International Connection

In the morning, you will be confident with a transfer to the Huaraz airport for the return to Lima. Again, upon arrival to Lima, a member of our team will assist you in your transition to your International flight.

Day 15: Arrive Home

Arrive back in your home city.

What is the experience of camping while you trek?

Our luxury trekking experience does not follow the path of camping. When you reach camp, your spacious tent will be set up, and our camp chef, prepared delicious, multi-course meals.

How serious is the risk of altitude sickness?

Altitude sickness is a real risk. The itinerary has important acclimatization days, and our certified mountain guides are very well trained to recognize and treat symptoms. Slow is the way forward, and disclosing symptoms to your guide is important.

Can I do this trip without high-altitude trekking experience?

We do not encourage trying this itinerary if you do not have multi-day trekking experience. The extreme elevation of the Punta Union pass demands a fitness level. If you are interested, our team can suggest other itineraries.
