The Hotel Plaza Grande graces Independence Square and boasts a rich history spanning over five centuries. Originally, during Quito's Spanish foundation, the land where the hotel now stands was awarded to the renowned conquistador Francisco Pizarro. This site was the location of the very first house constructed in the 16th century as Quito was established. Over the years, it was home to some of the city's most prominent families. In the early 20th century, it became the city's first luxury hotel.

Opened twelve years ago, the Hotel Plaza Grande features 15 exquisitely furnished rooms. It includes two restaurants—one serving Ecuadorian cuisine and the other offering Mediterranean fare with a French twist. At the Hotel Plaza Grande, rooms are equipped with both double and king-size beds and are spread across two floors of a five-story building, including the basement level. The rooms and suites are designed to be comfortable and spacious, each featuring unique decor that complements the building's aesthetic.

The entire hotel was styled by designer Adriana Hoyos, who incorporated distinctive details and a color scheme of gold and bronze. The interiors feature wall-to-wall carpeting, elegant curtains, and custom-designed furniture. Each room is air-conditioned, non-smoking, and soundproof. Amenities include full bathrooms with both a bathtub and shower, smart card/key access, a safety deposit box, Wi-Fi, and flat-screen TVs with cable access.
