13 Day Artic Itinerary

Day 1: Reykjavík: Gateway to the Arctic

The adventure begins in Reykjavík, Iceland’s dynamic capital and one of the northernmost capitals in the world. The city blends colorful Nordic charm with modern creativity, offering a vibrant atmosphere shaped by volcanic landscapes and ocean views. The cityscape shows Hallgrímskirkja Church standing tall above the city while the waterfront area features artistic vibes through its combination of public walkways and bustling coffee shops. The ship sets off from its dock to enter the vast North Atlantic which marks the beginning of its voyage. The first night reveals Iceland's Arctic landscape because the country's striking coastline disappears into the horizon while the Denmark Strait extends its reach toward Greenland.
Meals Included: Lunch / Dinner

Day 2: Crossing the Denmark Strait

Today the ship crosses the Denmark Strait, the narrow but powerful channel separating Iceland and Greenland. The cold water areas host abundant marine life which draws whales and seabirds together with various other animal species. The day includes activities where naturalists together with expedition specialists present the distinct geological features and weather patterns and animal living spaces of this area. Passengers learn about the Arctic environment and the significance of the upcoming solar eclipse, including how to safely observe it. The ship moves toward the west while passengers start to get excited because Greenland's distant shoreline becomes visible.
Meals Included: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner

Day 3: Total Solar Eclipse on the Blosseville Coast

The highlight of the expedition arrives as the ship reaches the dramatic Blosseville Coast of East Greenland. The area contains numerous steep mountain ranges which protect vast glaciers and wild polar landscapes. Guests travel ashore by small boats to carefully selected viewpoints aligned with the centerline of the eclipse path. The afternoon brought a rising sense of excitement because the moon started to move across the sun. The moon reaches its peak when it blocks the entire sun from view which causes daylight to change into twilight. The surrounding glaciers and peaks fall into an eerie darkness before the dazzling “diamond ring” effect signals the return of sunlight. The rare celestial display led people to spend their night watching one of nature's most remarkable events.
Meals Included: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner

Day 4: Exploring the Blosseville Coast

The journey continues south along the striking Blosseville Coast, a region shaped by ancient volcanic forces millions of years ago. The area shows steep cliffs together with glaciers that flow down to the ocean and unspoiled fjords which developers have yet to touch. The coastline holds historical value because Danish polar explorers studied it during the past while Inuit hunters used it for navigation. The expedition will check out a landing spot in this remote area when weather conditions become suitable. Visitors can walk among Arctic tundra, observe birdlife, and appreciate the raw wilderness that defines East Greenland.
Meals Included: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner

Day 5: Cultural Encounters in Tasiilaq

The settlement of Tasiilaq sits on Ammassalik Island and represents the largest community in East Greenland. The town exists in a mountainous area which includes fjords that help the community maintain its strong ties to Inuit traditions. Visitors explore colorful streets and learn about the heritage of the Tunumiit people. The town of Tasiilaq has always served as a spiritual hub which also promotes artistic creativity. The local artists now create detailed sculptures based on the legendary "tupilak" which used to frighten people in Inuit mythology. The surrounding tundra offers beautiful hiking opportunities, while cultural demonstrations provide insight into Greenlandic music, storytelling, and daily life.
Meals Included: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner

Day 6: Skjoldungen Fjord Wilderness

The expedition moves deeper into Greenland’s wilderness with a visit to Skjoldungen Fjord, known locally as Saqqisikuik. The breathtaking fjord exists within an environment which includes towering mountains and expansive glaciers. The site remains unoccupied today even though Inuit hunters visited it in the past and people lived there during the 20th century. The expedition reaches its first major point at Thryms Glacier which stands as an enormous ice formation that moves toward the fjord. Dronning Maries Dal stands as an outstanding natural feature because it presents a green valley which differs from the surrounding frozen environment. The fjord becomes accessible to visitors through two options which depend on weather conditions because they can either take small boats or follow the isolated shoreline path.
Meals Included: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner

Day 7: Prins Christian Sund & Aappilattoq

The route for today leads through Prins Christian Sund which serves as a narrow passageway that connects Greenland's eastern and western territories. The strait stretches for roughly 60 kilometers and is surrounded by steep mountains, glaciers, and waterfalls cascading from high cliffs. The channel creates a peaceful atmosphere through which icebergs move at a slow pace. The expedition arrives at Aappilattoq during the afternoon while Aappilattoq stands as a small settlement which sits beneath massive granite mountains. The community functions through its fishing activities and time-honored customs which allow guests to observe how people live in this remote Greenlandic settlement.
Meals Included: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner

Day 8: Tasermiut Fjord and Uunartoq Island

The steep granite cliffs which emerge from Tasermiut Fjord attract climbers and adventurers who come to this location from all corners of the globe. Norse settlers referred to this area as Ketil’s Fjord while Greenland's Viking past still echoes through the region. Fertile valleys contrast with the stark mountains, creating one of South Greenland’s most beautiful landscapes. The journey reaches Uunartoq Island during the later hours of the day because this island contains natural hot springs which produce geothermal pools. The warm waters offer a special relaxation experience because they exist between floating icebergs and wide Arctic scenery which surrounds Greenland.
Meals Included: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner

Day 9: Norse Heritage in Qassiarsuk

The present destination shows visitors the Viking history which exists throughout Greenland. The village of Qassiarsuk stands near the site where Erik the Red established his farm, Brattahlíð, in the 10th century. This settlement marked the beginning of Norse Greenland. The area contains more greenery than most parts of the island because it supports small farm operations and sheep farming activities. The day includes a scenic hike which leads to Igaliku where the Garðar ruins functioned as the religious and administrative center of Norse Greenland. The remote land reveals its Viking past through stone foundations which protect ancient structures.
Meals Included: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner

Day 10: Sailing Toward Nuuk

The ship sails north along Greenland’s western coastline, an area influenced by warmer Atlantic currents. The waters support various marine species which include whales and seals and seabirds. The coastline reveals a stunning view because it shows distant mountains along with numerous islands and rugged fjords. During this day at sea, guests can observe wildlife from the deck while learning about Greenland’s ecology and the history of Arctic exploration. The ocean's slow pace during travel lets me think about all the places we have already visited.
Meals Included: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner

Day 11: Nuuk: Greenland’s Modern Capital

Nuuk stands as Greenland's capital city because it unites historic customs with contemporary Arctic lifestyle practices. The town serves as the political and economic and cultural center of the island while hosting about twenty thousand people. Museums protect Greenlandic artifacts which belong to the first people who lived there including Paleo-Inuit groups and Norse settlers who came later. The Katuaq Cultural Center presents Greenlandic artistic creations together with musical performances and modern design works. The harbor shows colorful houses which line the water while mountains set the perfect background for the city's picturesque scenery. The vibrant energy of Nuuk shows how Greenland combines its heritage from long ago with its present-day urban lifestyle.
Meals Included: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner

Day 12: Kangaamiut and Eternity Fjord

The team finishes its exploration with a visit to Kangaamiut which stands as a small coastal settlement that preserves strong ties to Greenlandic cultural practices. The people here continue their fishing and hunting traditions while they enjoy the hills which provide them with extensive views of the entire coastline. The path leads to Evighedsfjorden which people refer to as Eternity Fjord. The massive glaciers continue their downward movement toward the water while the cliffs provide nesting locations for seabirds. The Arctic expedition ends with a grand finale because the fjord reveals an immense landscape which makes the entire journey worthwhile.
Meals Included: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner

Day 13: Kangerlussuaq: Journey’s End

The expedition concludes as the ship travels through the long Kangerlussuaq Fjord, stretching deep into Greenland’s interior. The region is known for its vast tundra landscapes and remarkable wildlife. Kangerlussuaq served as a strategic military base during the Cold War but today it functions as a main entrance to explore Greenland's natural areas. People who finish their journey will bring home memories which will last forever from their Arctic adventures through glaciers and fjords and their experience of Earth's most rare natural event.
