Your adventure cruise to Antarctica and Patagonia commences in vibrant Valparaíso. Dubbed the ‘Gem of the Pacific’, this welcoming UNESCO-designated city sprawls across steep hillsides with views of the sea.

Teeming with captivating aromas and vibrant noises, it presents an invigorating labyrinth of narrow streets, lively neighborhoods, vivid residences, and bustling markets brimming with indigenous goods. Absorb the atmosphere while ascending Cerro Alegre and Concepción aboard a charming funicular.

During the following two days while sailing, you'll delve deeper into the marvels awaiting us on the journey.

The Expedition Team comprises specialists in fields ranging from oceanography and geology to ornithology and history. Engage with their captivating lectures and interactive sessions at the Science Center.

Equip yourself with binoculars to spot elusive wandering albatrosses and petrels. Indulge in the onboard amenities and pamper yourself with a spa session in the wellness zone. Additionally, take advantage of the infinity pool, hot tubs, jogging track, sauna, and gym facilities.

Nestled amidst the verdant foliage of Chiloé Island, Castro stands as Chile’s third-oldest city. It boasts two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Iglesia San Francisco and Iglesia Nuestra Señora de Gracia de Nercón.

Marvel at the city’s vibrant ‘palafitos’ – stilt houses lining the waterfront – from various viewpoints. Immerse yourself in cultural exploration at the Regional Museum and the Museum of Modern Art.

Don't forget your binoculars; Chiloé serves as a vital habitat for diverse bird species including green-backed firecrowns, Chilean flamingos, penguins, black-necked swans, ringed kingfishers, and silvery grebes.

The journey progresses towards Puerto Edén, leading us through the serene islands of Aysén. Amidst this breathtaking scenery, seize the chance to re-engage with the natural world. Breathe in the crisp sea breeze as we traverse pristine isles and verdant mountains, keeping an eye out for elusive wildlife.

Savor the experience from the deck, the open-air hot tub, or the expansive Explorer Lounge & Bar. Meanwhile, the Expedition Team will carry on with their informative lecture series in the Science Center, providing captivating glimpses into the destinations and creatures awaiting you on this expedition.

Located at the end of a deep fjord, the next destination is the charming village of Puerto Edén, nestled within Bernardo O’Higgins National Park.

This small settlement is accessible only by sea, with the ferry connecting it to the mainland making just one monthly visit. Here, there are no roads, only wooden boardwalks linking houses and shops. Among its 250 residents are some of the last remaining members of the Indigenous Kawésqar people. You'll have the opportunity to engage with them and gain insights into their unique culture.

Continuing the expedition cruise, we arrive at Puerto Natales, the entry point to Torres del Paine National Park. Here, you have the option to explore this stunning national park via either a bus or hiking excursion – both offering rewarding experiences.

The rugged terrain showcases a blend of steppe, forest, and desert landscapes, adorned with glaciers and lakes. Indigenous wildlife such as guanacos and rheas wander freely, while Chilean flamingos grace the waters and the majestic Andean condor soars above.

Puerto Natales serves as a bustling hub for adventurers and tourists alike, boasting numerous eateries, bars, and outdoor outfitters. Embark on your own adventures, whether it's visiting the artisan village at Etherh Aike, indulging in a gin tasting at the Last Hope Distillery, or simply taking a leisurely stroll along the picturesque waterfront.

As you venture southward along the Chilean coastline, you'll traverse the strikingly scenic island clusters comprising the fjords of Magallanes Province. These remote islands and secluded bays form a lush sanctuary for diverse wildlife.

Whether navigating on the small boats (RIBs) or from the deck, keep an eye out for colonies of Magellanic penguins, elephant seals, and various whale species. Additionally, you may catch sight of magnificent waterfalls cascading down the rugged and picturesque coastline.

Following the journey through the Beagle Channel, we'll approach the southernmost point of South America, Cape Horn. This renowned landmark often presents formidable conditions, but weather permitting, we'll endeavor to make a landing there.

From Cape Horn, we'll set the course through the storied Drake Passage toward Antarctica. Along the way, we'll prepare you for the upcoming adventure and provide guidance on how to ensure your visit is both safe and environmentally responsible.

In the Science Center, the Expedition Team will deliver lectures covering Antarctica's wildlife, history, and geology, as well as discussions on the impacts of climate change and plastic pollution. You'll also have the opportunity to participate in the Citizen Science initiatives.

Your initial glimpse of Antarctica's vast, icy magnificence is an unparalleled experience. Nature's handiwork is evident in the sculpted icebergs drifting through the straits, while Gentoo and chinstrap penguins engage in courtship rituals, and Adélie penguins tend to their nests. Above, countless seabirds soar, a testament to nature's dominance.

Over the next four days, you'll be fully immersed in exploration, with numerous landing sites awaiting discovery. With over 20 potential locations spanning the Antarctic Peninsula and South Shetland Islands, each day promises excitement unlike anything you've encountered before.

You might find yourself sailing into a submerged volcanic crater or stepping onto icy shores littered with remnants of past whaling activities. There may be opportunities to kayak amidst towering icebergs and playful seals or embark on snowshoeing adventures to breathtaking viewpoints.

Bird enthusiasts should keep their gaze skyward for sightings of Antarctic seabirds such as skuas, petrels, and terns. Through onboard lectures and onshore discussions, you'll deepen your understanding of this precious ecosystem and learn how we can collectively safeguard it for future generations.

Following four unforgettable days in Antarctica, we embark on the return journey across the Drake Passage, heading back towards the warmer climate of Argentina. This allows you two days to relish life on board, with an array of activities to choose from.

During your remaining days at sea, engage in art workshops or indulge in a spa treatment. Stay active with a workout at the gym or bask in the panoramic views from the sauna. Unwind in the outdoor pool or luxuriate in the on-deck hot tubs.

Visit the Science Center to delve deeper into your Antarctic experiences, or utilize the time to organize and edit your photos while gaining valuable tips from the onboard photographer.

Concluding your expedition cruise, you'll arrive in Ushuaia, the principal city in Tierra del Fuego, Argentina's southernmost province. While your journey back to Buenos Aires begins here, it doesn't mark the end of your adventure.

We suggest considering one of the optional Post-Programs before returning home.
