15 Day Antarctica Itinerary

Day 1: Dunedin

Dunedin, the oldest city in New Zealand, proudly showcases its Scottish heritage. Known for its well-preserved Victorian and Edwardian architecture, it features a stunning backdrop from the Silverpeaks to the northwest. The Otago Peninsula, within city limits, is home to acclaimed wildlife reserves, including the sole mainland breeding colony of Northern Royal Albatross.

Day 2: Ulva Island

Ulva Island, the largest of twenty islands in Paterson Inlet, spans about 270 hectares and has never been logged. Declared pest-free in 1997, it now serves as a sanctuary for many rare bird and plant species. Visitors can easily explore its well-maintained tracks, encountering flightless birds and a largely undisturbed podocarp forest.

Day 3: Dusky Sound & Doubtful Sound

Dusky Sound

Wildlife enthusiasts can spot various species, including seals and the rare Fiordland crested penguins, with opportunities to explore the fjord by zodiac if conditions allow.

Doubtful Sound

Known as the "Sound of Silence," Doubtful Sound offers a serene contrast to its more famous counterpart. Lieutenant Cook named it in 1770 due to concerns about navigability. The fjord, reaching depths of 421 meters, features beautiful waterfalls and distinct arms, providing a captivating experience as the vessel navigates its waters.
