The High Arctic provides explorers with its dramatic wilderness during a seven-day adventure which reveals the stunning beauty of Svalbard's natural environment. The expedition begins in Longyearbyen before exploring the archipelago through its glacier-filled fjords and its historical Arctic exploration locations and its coastal areas which support abundant wildlife.
The northern pack ice serves as the best place to watch polar bears so travelers head there while they explore distant islands and scientific base locations. The expedition through Svalbard offers visitors a chance to discover the natural beauty of the region through its walrus resting areas and its steep bird nesting sites and its floating sea ice and its Arctic tundra landscape.
7 Day Artic Itinerary
Day 1: Departure from Longyearbyen
The Arctic adventure of Longyearbyen starts at the northernmost permanent settlement which exists anywhere on the planet. The remote town sits deep in Spitsbergen's dramatic landscapes to function as the main entrance for the entire Svalbard archipelago. Longyearbyen exists as a modern Nordic town which merges its contemporary culture with the historical spirit of exploration and scientific discovery that developed in this frontier region. The expedition vessel begins its voyage when passengers board the ship which sets sail from the Arctic Ocean to explore the distant wilderness of Svalbard.

Day 2: Exploring Northwest Svalbard
Our expedition has entered Northwest Svalbard National Park which stands as one of the Arctic's most important areas from a historical perspective. The first explorers and whalers built their homes along these coasts although their traces remain visible in the present day. The whaling industry of this region becomes clear through the exploration of sites which include Smeerenburg. The environment has undergone recovery which now supports flourishing Arctic ecosystems. The polar environment supports three main wildlife groups which include walruses on distant beaches and seabirds that build their homes on tall cliffs and tundra animals that have adapted to polar life.

Day 3: Northeast Svalbard Wilderness
The expedition travels through the archipelago until it reaches the uninhabited territory which exists in northeast Svalbard. The area experiences polar desert conditions because cold ocean currents restrict plant growth in this region. The mountains release huge glaciers which flow into the frozen fjords to create stunning visual effects. The area supports a wide range of animal species which survive successfully in its extreme weather conditions. The coastline of Arctic foxes serves as their home while seabirds build their nests in massive cliff-side colonies and walruses spend their time resting on the rocky beaches. The explorers face new challenges every day because ice and weather conditions in this area show continuous transformation.

Day 4: Northern Svalbard Islands
The expedition will explore the northernmost territories of the Svalbard archipelago which includes Nordaustlandet and Sjuøyane islands. The North Pole lies close to these desolate territories which stretch across the region. The area contains only a few plants which survive through mosses and lichens that grow on the rocky surface. The harsh environment supports a thriving bird population because geese and skuas and Arctic terns choose these islands for their nesting grounds. The distant location lets visitors experience the genuine unspoiled nature which exists throughout the High Arctic.

Day 5: Into the Arctic Pack Ice
The expedition reaches its peak when we start navigating through the floating Arctic pack ice. The Arctic Ocean contains this frozen wild area which supports various animal species through its ever-changing nature. Seals choose to sleep on ice floes while seabirds fly around the frozen waters. The Arctic apex predators known as polar bears hunt for food while they roam across the ice. The chance to explore narrow ice channels reveals an extraordinary habitat where sea ice exists together with wildlife to create this unique environment.

Day 6: Kongsfjorden and Ny-Ålesund
The expedition team reaches Kongsfjorden which stands as one of the most beautiful fjords that exist in Svalbard. The glaciers which stand tall in the mountains flow down into the peaceful waters of the fjord. The research settlement of Ny-Ålesund functions as the northernmost base which scientists use for their permanent work. The settlement functioned as a home base for early polar explorers who used it to start their North Pole expeditions. The site now contains scientific research facilities from around the world which study climate change and Arctic ecosystems and glaciology. The natural environment surrounding this location features glaciers and mountains which make it one of Svalbard's most memorable travel destinations.

Day 7: Return to Longyearbyen
The journey back to Longyearbyen serves as its final destination. The end of my amazing trip arrives when I return to this distant Arctic town after spending several days exploring glaciers and wildlife areas and frozen polar regions. Visitors leave Svalbard with lasting impressions from its untouched nature and the amazing Arctic animals which live there.

7 Day Arctic cruise activities
Under full instruction from your sea kayaking guide, experience true tranquillity as you paddle through clinking ice floes and realise the enormity of the surrounding scenery. Look out for breaching whales, lounging seals and penguins zipping alongside your kayak. Some experience is required.
Camp out on the ice and experience the silence which blankets the continent by night. This is your chance to completely connect with this ethereal ice world – wrap up warm and embrace the Antarctic elements.
Get a spring in your step when you slip on a pair of snowshoes in Antarctica. Enabling you to easily scale gentle slopes, this unique activity allows you to access hard to reach places and seek out the most impressive views.
Learn to capture wildlife and landscape shots in a small group photography program, including critiquing sessions and editing classes. Plus, Explorer Boat excursions with a dedicated photography expert on landings.
Achieve the best views and photographs from a forward facing Explorer Boats. They allow you to sit comfortably and securely while crackling through the ice-strewn waters. Look out for wildlife such as penguins, seals and whales as you cruise.
It doesn’t get more serene than complimentary yoga classes to the tune of glacial scenery. Join the most unique exercise setting in the world after a day of exploration. Classes are regular but are dependent on weather conditions and swell.
