Terra Nova Adventurer will operate the upcoming seasons of Terra Nova Expeditions in Antarctica | Travel News

It has been confirmed that Terra Nova Adventurer will operate the 2026-27 and 2027-28 Antarctic seasons after St Helena became unable to reposition from the Persian Gulf in time for the start of the coming season.

The company has finalised an agreement covering Terra Nova Adventurer for the next three Antarctic seasons. Its planned Antarctic itineraries and expedition programme are expected to continue aboard the replacement vessel.

A polar expedition ship with Antarctic experience

The ship has features intended for polar operations, including enhanced ice capability, a large expedition mudroom and direct Zodiac boarding arrangements. These are designed to make transfers between the vessel and shore more efficient during expedition activities.

Changes planned before the first season

Several upgrades will be completed before the Terra Nova Adventurer begins operations. These will include refurbishing the bar and lounge areas, as well as adding a jacuzzi and sauna.

Securing this vessel for three seasons allows us to respond to recent setbacks and maintain active Antarctic operations. The ship is renowned for its extensive experience in polar regions and is a familiar name among expedition travelers.

The ship will be dedicated to the Antarctic Small Vessel Program, with a strong emphasis on off-board activities. Along with shore excursions, itineraries include kayaking, snowshoeing, photography workshops, and other polar activities. Thus, following the disruptions that affected the transfer of the St. Helena from the Persian Gulf, voyages will continue as planned aboard the new vessel.
