Christmas is a time for magic, and there is no place where this is truer than in Antarctica, Weddel’s last untouched continent. Here, we will share the holidays in peaceful harmony with Mother Nature, surrounded by stunning icebergs, colonies of Adelie and other penguin species, and various seals, always keeping an eye out for the possible sighting of hunting Orca whales. The Antarctic Sound is famous for its massive tubular icebergs, while the Weddel Sea boasts a unique geography unlike anywhere else on the planet.

13 Day Antarctica Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Ushuaia

Don't worry about missed connections or flight delays—arrive in the southernmost city in the world with an extra day to relax and enjoy the luxurious Arakur Resort & Spa in Ushuaia. Unwind in the infinity pool, explore the hiking trails around the resort, or venture out to discover the southernmost city in the world.

Day 2: Explore Ushuaia

Discover the attractions of Ushuaia, tour the museums, and browse the Argentinean leather markets, or simply keep relaxing at the hotel. Join us for an evening briefing at the Arakur, where you can ask questions and get to know some of your fellow explorers.

Day 3: All Aboard Seaventure

Spend your morning exploring Ushuaia or relaxing at the resort before we escort you to the ship in the mid-afternoon. The Expedition Team and ship staff will greet you on board and help you get settled, followed by a safety and orientation briefing and the Captain’s welcome dinner. We're setting sail for Antarctica!

Day 4 & 5: Drake Passage

Jointhe Polar Experts as they share their extensive knowledge of Antarctica, covering its fascinating wildlife and rich history. Take part in the innovative Citizen Science program, or simply relax and enjoy the legendary voyage while observing rarely-seen wildlife. Have your binoculars ready to spot the many seabirds that accompany the ship as we cross the Antarctic Convergence into the cooler waters of Antarctica, signaling the approach of your first iceberg sighting—an unforgettable highlight of every journey.

Day 6 & 7: Antarctic Sound & Weddell Sea

We navigate through the enigmatic channels and wildlife-filled waters of the Antarctic Sound and Weddell Sea, ideal for an unforgettable holiday adventure. The Antarctic Sound is renowned for its massive tabular icebergs, while the Weddell Sea features a unique geography found nowhere else on earth. In this region, we'll observe abundant wildlife including Adélie penguins and seals, all while watching for hunting Orcas.

Day 8 & 9: Merry Christmas, Antarctica!

It's time to fully embrace the explorer’s spirit. Antarctica, the last truly pristine place on earth, offers breathtaking landscapes and wildlife encounters at every turn, inhabited solely by its native wildlife. Get ready to see various species of penguins, seals, and whales, all of which will share the holiday season with us along the rugged coastlines and in the sea. We'll also seize every chance to visit active scientific bases and historic landing sites on the peninsula. This journey promises to create holiday memories you'll treasure forever. The team always has something special planned for Christmas Day.

Day 10: South Shetland Islands

Over the years, the volcanic activity in the South Shetland Islands has sculpted a unique geology found nowhere else. Here, you'll encounter a magnificent array of mountains, glaciers, and wildlife, including Chinstrap and Gentoo penguins. It's common to share the shoreline with Elephant and Fur seals, while whales are frequently sighted in the waters nearby. We'll embark on the Zodiacs for a day of extensive exploration, giving kayakers their first opportunity to glide just inches above the pristine Antarctic waters. Whether on land or at sea, aboard a Zodiac or a kayak, prepare for a fully immersive introduction to this extraordinary part of the world.

Day 11 & 12: Drake Passage

We bid farewell to this enchanting place and begin the journey northward, once more traversing the renowned Drake Passage. Before concluding the expedition, we come together for one final celebration, enjoying a special slideshow and sharing a final meal as a group.

Day 13: Ushuaia Disembarkation

With big smiles on the tired yet satisfied faces, we disembark in the morning, giving you the option to catch a flight to Buenos Aires or remain in Ushuaia for further exploration and adventure.

13 Day Antarctica cruise activities

Sea Kayaking
Under full instruction from your sea kayaking guide, experience true tranquillity as you paddle through clinking ice floes and realise the enormity of the surrounding scenery. Look out for breaching whales, lounging seals and penguins zipping alongside your kayak. Some experience is required.
Ice Camping
Camp out on the ice and experience the silence which blankets the continent by night. This is your chance to completely connect with this ethereal ice world – wrap up warm and embrace the Antarctic elements.
Snowshoeing
Get a spring in your step when you slip on a pair of snowshoes in Antarctica. Enabling you to easily scale gentle slopes, this unique activity allows you to access hard to reach places and seek out the most impressive views.

Learn to capture wildlife and landscape shots in a small group photography program, including critiquing sessions and editing classes. Plus, Explorer Boat excursions with a dedicated photography expert on landings.
Explorer Boats
Achieve the best views and photographs from a forward facing Explorer Boats. They allow you to sit comfortably and securely while crackling through the ice-strewn waters. Look out for wildlife such as penguins, seals and whales as you cruise.
