Day 5: Private Trekking to Laguna de los Tres

Enjoy a full-day private trekking experience to Laguna de los Tres, including a one-way transfer to the El Pilar trailhead, 17 km north of El Chaltén. This is the most popular and arguably the most picturesque trek in the region. The adventure begins with a walk through dense lenga forests that shield you from the winds of the Continental Ice Field. Along the way, you'll enjoy stunning views of multiple glaciers, including Marconi, Eléctrico, Cagliero, and, in the distance near Lago del Desierto, the Vespignani glacier. The trail starts relatively flat with gentle ascents.

The first major viewpoint offers breathtaking sights of the Piedras Blancas glacier. Shortly afterward, the forest opens into a clearing, revealing magnificent peaks such as "S," Saint Exupéry, Poincenot, Fitz Roy, Mermoz, and Guillaumet. The trek then ascends 400 meters over the course of an hour to reach Laguna de los Tres. This steep stretch features a rocky path with steps, leading to the highest point of the trail. At the top, you'll be rewarded with awe-inspiring views of Mount Fitz Roy, the Glacier de los Tres, and its lagoon—a humbling and majestic sight. From here, you'll also visit the viewpoint for Laguna Sucia and its glacier.

After a break for lunch, you'll begin your descent back to El Chaltén, passing through diverse landscapes, crystal-clear streams, and the scenic Laguna Capri, a favorite spot for photographers. The trek concludes with a descent into the valley where El Chaltén is situated.

A premium packed lunch is provided, tailored to your dietary preferences (vegan, vegetarian, or gluten-free options available). The meal includes a sandwich or wrap, a tart, salad, a dessert such as cake or pastry, a cereal bar, water, and a bottle of wine (subject to availability in the area).

Day 7: Private Perito Moreno Glacier Experience

Full-Day Private Perito Moreno Glacier Tour. This exclusive tour takes you deep into Parque Nacional Los Glaciares to experience the awe-inspiring Perito Moreno Glacier. Along the way, you'll stop at a pier for a brief boat ride to the glacier's south wall. From the water, you'll gain an incredible perspective on the glacier's immense scale—spanning over 3 miles in width and towering more than 20 stories high—making it one of Patagonia's most unforgettable sights. You can enjoy a packed lunch on the walkways overlooking the glacier or choose from dining options available within the park.

Safari Náutico Boat Trip to the South Wall. Included in your tour is a boat excursion to the south wall of the glacier, which is not visible from the walkways. This 45-60 minute journey departs from Puerto las Sombras and offers a unique vantage point to truly appreciate the glacier's towering height.

The entrance fee to the National Park is covered as part of your tour.

Additionally, a premium packed lunch is provided, tailored to your itinerary. Depending on the day’s arrangements, it will either be delivered to your hotel or brought by your guide.

Regions Visited

El Chaltén

For those eager to experience trekking in the Andes, few places are as rewarding and accessible as El Chaltén. Nestled beneath the imposing peaks of the Fitz Roy Massif within Los Glaciares National Park, this alpine town serves as a gateway to numerous hiking trails, with most starting and ending right in town. The iconic treks to Laguna de los Tres and Laguna Torre are among the most popular. We collaborate with expert local guides in El Chaltén to organize multi-day trekking adventures with all necessary equipment included, or simpler day hikes from any of the town's hotel accommodations.

El Calafate

The standout attraction in this breathtaking part of Patagonia is the awe-inspiring Perito Moreno Glacier. It's one of the rare glaciers in the world that isn't retreating, and few places allow visitors to get so close to such a natural wonder.

A day trip from El Calafate is highly recommended to explore the glacier, with options for a guided ice trek for a more adventurous experience. The region also boasts remarkable estancias (ranches) worth visiting, such as Estancia Nibepo Aike and Estancia Cristina.
