Highlight on Julia´s farm and family
Julia was a formal teacher. She is now taking care of a 3 hectares plantation of coffee, bananas, mangos, avocados, exotic fruits and tea. She is also involved in the development of the district of Huayopata on the social and educational topics. You will spend a lovely time with her cheerful family.

Altitude: approx. 1500 meters
Size: approx. 3 hectares
Plantation: coffee, bananas, tea, mango, masassamba, passion fruit, mandarines, avocados, coca.

Highlight on Rosa´s cacao plantation
At Rosa´s cacao plantation in Maranura you will learn all the secrets of Theobroma cacao (also known as the ¨food of the gods¨). With her you will prepare a delicious hot chocolate from dried beans from her plantation. Rosa has 2 types of cacao trees on her plantation; the ¨chuncho¨ and the ¨hybrido¨.

Highlight on the walk from Hidroelectrica to Aguas Calientes
Arriving at Aguas Calientes
The 2 to 3 hours walk from Hidroelectrica to Aguas Calientes is a flat and nice walk in the wonderful nature near Machu Picchu. You hike on a path by the railway and the river. You shouldn´t miss it if you are fit! The landscapes are unforgettable!

Highlight on Huayna Picchu
You can choose to clim the Huayna Picchu Mountain. It is a 30 min to 1hour walk up to reach the top. This walk is quite though but as soon as you are on top you forget all the difficulties you had reaching it. If you have no physical problem don´t hesitate to climb Huayna Picchu!

3 Day Peru Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco - Huayopata

Peru

Early in the morning you are leaving with public or private transportation from the bus terminal or the hotel to Huayopata where you will find Julia´s farm. Here you will be welcomed with a fresh fruit juice and a lunch with traditional food from the region. In the afternoon you are going to do one of the activities in Julia´s farm. Depending on the season you will:

  • Visit the tea plantation and factory
  • Visit the coffee plantation and learn more about the coffee process
  • Discover and taste the exotic fruits of the season

In the evening you have a moment with Julia´s family and if you would like to help cooking, feel free to ask Julia. Around 06:00 pm dinner will be served.

Afterwards with Julia and Jose, you will learn how to peel, roast and grind coffee. Prepare the coffee you will enjoy the next morning for breakfast. You spend the night at Julia´s farm in rooms with private bathroom and hot water.

Day 2: Cusco - Maranura - Santa Maria

In the morning you have breakfast at Julia´s farm with great and selfmade coffee. You continue your trip to Maranura to Rosa´s farm. Activities you can do with Rosa:

  • Discovering the cacao tree and its fruit
  • Learning about harvest, fermentation and drying of the cacao beans
  • Roasting and grinding cacao beans from the farm
  • Preparing a hot chocolate with your freshly ground cacao

Afterwards you will be transported to Santa Maria where you will have lunch (Menu of the day). You have two options;

Option 1 – Back to Cusco
By private or public transportation you will go back to the busterminal of Cusco or your hotel where you will arrive in the evening.

Option 2 – Let´s visit Machu Picchu!
After lunch you will be transported to Hidroelectrica from where you either can walk (2h30) to Aguas Calientes or take the train. Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes you check in your hotel. (standard accommodation with private bathroom and hot water)

Day 3: Machu Picchu

If you choose to finish your tour with the visit of the Machu Picchu, here is what your last day would look like;

Early in the morning you can enjoy breakfast. At 06h00 am you are going up with the first bus to Machu Picchu and you will have a guided tour of approximately 3 hours. Afterwards you can explore this misterious city by yourself. You can choose to climb the Huayna Picchu (extra charge and reservations need to be done in advance) at 07:00am or 10:00am.

In the afternoon you go back by bus to Aguas Calientes where you will have lunch (not included). At 03:00pm you have transportation from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo.
Sometimes this train is not available and we´ll have to charge you an extre fee for other trains at other times. Upon arrivel in Ollantaytambo train station you will go by public transportation to the bus terminal in Cusco where you can get a taxi to go to your hotel.
