Typical Peruvian Food

Fruits
During the gastronomic tour you will get to learn the Peruvian cuisine and how to make typical dishes. You will visit a Peruvian market where you will find the unique fruits like Chirimoya, Lucuma, Aguaymanto and Pacae. Fruits that you will find in the Andes of Peru.

Pisco Sour
You will learn how to prepare Pisco Sour! Pisco Sour is a cocktail originated in Lima and was invented by Victor Morris, an American bartender. Morris left the United States to work in Cerro de Pasco, a city in central Peru. He opened Morris´Bar in Lima and his saloon quickly became a popular spot for the Peruvian upper class and English speaking-foreigners.

Rocoto Relleno
In Arequipa you get to learn to make Rocoto Relleno. This is a Peruvian dish originated from the city Arequipa. This dish is made by stuffing fried minced beef, boiled egg inside the rocotos and then topped with melted cheese, baked and served. Rocotos means hot peppers and it is one of the most famous dishes of Peru. It is served as one of the top Peruvian cuisines all over the world.

Ceviche
Last but not least; the ceviche! This is a popular seafood dish in the coastal regions. Ceviche is typically made from fresh raw fish marinated in citrus juices and spices with aji or chili peppers. Additional seasonings, such as chopped onions, salt, and coriander, may also be added. Ceviche originated in Peru.

Day by day

Day 1: Lima
Lima | Peru
At your arrival in Lima your private transportation will take you to your beautiful hotel. In the afternoon you will go on a guided excursion to the ¨Magical Water Circuit¨ the largest water fountain compound in the world, certified by Guinness World Records. Here you will enjoy a wonderful display of water, light, music and images presented at the Reserve Park, one of Lima´s most beautiful urban areas. Afterwards you will be able to enjoy a buffet dinner at La Dama Juana restaurant, one of Lima´s most famous places to explore the best of Peru in one place. Enjoy the delicious food and the typical dance show.
Day 2: Lima
Peruvian Dishes
Our culinary adventure begins in a typical ¨Peruvian Market¨. Where you will find a wide variety of Peruvian products and enjoy unique fruits like chirimoya, lucuma, aguaymanto and pacae. We will also visit the exclusive restaurant La Rosa Nautica, where you will learn to prepare the famous Pisco Sour by an expert barman, and the delicious ceviche prepared by the cheff of the restaurant. Then you will taste a delicious lunch featuring the most representative dishes of the Peruvian cuisine.
Day 3: Lima-Arequipa
Suspiro Limeño
According to your flight´s schedule your private transportation will take you to the airport in order to take your flight to Arequipa where you will be received by your guide and taken to your beautiful hotel. When you are ready your guide will take you to Wayrana´s restaurant where you will receive an interesting cooking lesson and you will learn how to prepare; ceviche, rocoto relleno and two different types of Pisco Sour. Then you will be able to try everything you have cooked. In the afternoon we invite you on a private city tour in Arequipa. Arequipa is known as ¨White City¨ because of the many buildings made of volcanic stone. You will go to a local market and get to know about typical fruits and vegetables and can take a look at some rather odd things on the herbal and witches stands. Then you continue walking through the streets to the Main Square with its Cathedral and Jesuit Church. The highlight of the tour is the controversial visit of the mytical convent of Santa Catalina. Here, over a period of 300 years, up to 150 nuns lived with her maid completely closed from the outside world. In 1970, the monastery gates were opened for the first time to the public.
Day 4: Arequipa- Colca Canyon

Today you will enjoy a nice full day tour to the Colca Canyon we will leave very early in the morning to the famous ¨Cruz del Condor¨ point. Arrive to ¨Cruz del Condor¨ and time enough to have an enjoyable view of the deep of the Canyon and if weather permits; majestic pictures of the flight of the condors. Then we will make some stops in some small towns and on the road we will visit Colca Lodge where you will be able to enjoy the hot springs and a nice lunch. In the afternoon we come back to Arequipa.
Day 5: Arequipa-Cusco
Ceviche
According to your flight´s schedule your private transportation will take you to the airport. At your arrival in Cusco you will be transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon you will enjoy a guided city tour where you will get to know the Cathedral, the Qoricancha Temple and 2 museums located in the city. Right after that your guide will accompany you to the Choco Museum where you will learn how to prepare chocolate truffles and ganache, this workshop lasts two hours. At the end of the workshop you will leave with your creation. This workshop will teach you efficiently how to prepare chocolate truffles so that you can prepare them at your place to make your friends and family very happy.
Day 6: Cusco- Sacred Valley

Today you will enjoy a full day tour of the Sacred Valley.
The Sacred Valley of the Incas is as magical as it name suggests; a winding trail of lush, green slopes lining the Urubamba River. Discover everything from colorful markets to fascinating architectural remains.

Travel to Pisac, a lofty Andean village with its native market. On our way to Pisac, you will stop at the Awanakancha centre, where all four Peruvian camelids – llamas, alpacas, guanacos and vicunas – laze in the fields. Weavers from southern Peru exhibit textiles that are spun, dyed and woven using traditional natural products and techniques. This fascinating place also has a shop where you can buy top quality crafts. We arrive in the town of Pisac, renowned for its huge, colorful market. Local Indians have gathered here for centuries to sell their merchandise. The daily handicraft section is famous for its jewellery, textiles and other Peruvian artifacts. We then drive up to explore the extensive ruins of Pisac with stunning views over the valley. Here we observe temples, residences, altars, channels and caves.

In this wonderful journey, we will stop at La Hacienda Huayocari for a Demonstration of Local Vegetables & Home Style Lunch. Here you will learn, touch and taste some of the main vegetables farmed in this area. You will then learn about the special techniques that Chefs apply to the great variety of natural products including an endless variety of potatoes and other delicious vegetables.

This afternoon we continue to the town of Ollantaytambo,one of the oldest continuously occupied settlements in the Americas. Climb the steep stone steps up to the imposing fortress at the top of the mountain for breathtaking views down the valley, and admire the huge monoliths that form the Temple of the Sun.

Day 7: Sacred Valley Machu Picchu- Cusco
Aguas Calientes

We will transfer you to the train station in order to take the train. Your guide will go with you on the bus up to Machu Picchu. It is 30 minutes by car, once you arrived in Machu Picchu, our tour guide will give you a guided tour of approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. You will visit the Inca Terraces, The Agricultural Sector, The Urban Sector etc. Then you will be able to have plenty of time to explore this mysterious city by yourself.

Things to do:

  • Walk up to the Sun Gat (45 minutes – 1 hour)
  • Walk up to the Inca Bridge (40 minutes)
  • Walk up to the Huayna Picchu Mountain (2 hours, early booking requiered)

In the afternoon you will take the bus down to Aguas Calientes in order to catch the train to Cusco. When you arrive back in Ollantaytambo or Cusco´s trainstation we will pick you up and bring you to your hotel.

Day 8: Lima- Cusco
Peruvian Dishes

Today you will have a flight to Lima, on your arrival you will be taken to your nice hotel, right after you will enjoy a nice full day tour where you will visit the Larco Museum, the largest and most impressive pre-Columbian art collection in the world.

Located in an 18th century vice-royal mansion, built on an pre-Columbian pyramid of the 7th century. Its new galleries display the best and most complete collection of gold and silver of Peru together with its famous collection of erotic pottery and then you will have a typical lunch in one of the most famous restaurants in Lima called ¨El Rincon que no conoces¨. Our guide will explain you about the afro-Peruvian cuisine. In the late afternoon you will be taken to a Japanese restaurant for dinner.

Day 9: Lima - Out
Lima City
At the coordinated time your private transportation will take you to the airport, so that you will be able to take your flight back home.
