A young student from Hankelow, near Nantwich, is preparing for a significant hiking challenge to raise funds for the HFT charity.
Anna Barber, a 20-year-old Zoology student at Bangor University, is about to undertake her toughest adventure yet—a six-day trek to the lost city of Machu Picchu in South America.
In addition to the hike, Anna will spend two nights in the Amazon Rainforest. Her goal is to raise over £4,300 for the HFT charity, which helps adults with learning disabilities lead more independent lives. The charity provides support through personalized technology, assisted living, day programs, and even opportunities for relationships, empowering people to enjoy life experiences often taken for granted.
Anna shared: “Growing up in rural Cheshire, I developed a love for the outdoors, with caravan holidays and long walks in the countryside shaping my childhood.
“When my university offered the chance to hike Machu Picchu for the HFT charity, I couldn’t pass it up. I’ll be hiking for six days and then spending two nights in the Amazon rainforest.
“I’ve already held several fundraising events and given presentations at schools to work toward my £4,300 goal. I have many more ideas for raising funds and am reaching out to anyone willing to support me.
“Although this is a challenging endeavor, I believe that, with your help, it’s within reach!”
