Peru secured top honors at the South America World Travel Awards, winning in four categories, including being named South America’s most important destination. Additionally, for the seventh consecutive year, it was recognized as South America’s leading cultural destination.
These accolades highlight Peru's ongoing commitment to preserving its heritage and cultural diversity and sharing it globally.
Notably, the historic Inca sanctuary of Machu Picchu in the Cusco region was once again voted “South America’s Leading Tourist Site.” This UNESCO World Heritage Site is the first tourist destination to achieve international carbon-neutral certification.
Peru was also named “South America’s Leading Culinary Destination,” solidifying its status as the region’s gastronomic hub.

Known as the ‘Oscars of Tourism,’ the World Travel Awards are globally recognized in the industry.
