Bartolome is one of the best Galapagos Islands to visit

Sep 28, 2017

Picking just one of the Galapagos Islands to visit above the others is an almost impossible task. With so many incredible places to see in the archipelago, any tour of the Galapagos should take in as many as possible.

So, on that basis, consider this blog about Bartolome as a one of a series of posts about the best Galapagos Islands to visit.

Sensational views and snorkeling

As you might expect, from the top there is a sensational view of the surrounding Galapagos Islands, including Sullivan Bay (Santiago Island), Isla San Salvador, and Isla Daphne.

However, there is more to the island than geological highlights. The waters of the north beach are ideal for snorkeling – a place to swim with exotic fish and marine life. Look out for the green sea turtles and white-tipped sharks. You might even get close to a couple of charismatic penguins.

Of course, seeing the island from the vantage point of the touring Seaman Journey yacht gives you the best view of all. Head ashore in a zodiac, explore the island and then continue on your journey to the other best Galapagos Islands to visit.

The Pinnacle Rock

Bartolome stands out for its iconic and famous Pinnacle Rock, arguably one of the most instantly recognizable places in the whole of the Galapagos archipelago. Once you have seen it, you’ll certainly never forget it.

The huge rock face, formed by lava and eroded over millennia is a true one-off. The result of an underwater volcanic eruption, visitors can now reach the summit via a 600-meter trail.

Bartolome is a ‘must-visit’ island

Bartolome is a must-visit destination in the islands but it is only one of many that should be on your list. The Galapagos archipelago is one of the most magical places on earth with a diversity of wildlife and nature unrivaled anywhere else. So it’s little wonder that there is more than just one stand out destination.
